# AI2SQL by ai2sql MCP Server

AI2SQL turns plain-English questions into SQL and helps with the SQL you already have.

What it does:
- Generate SQL from a plain-English request, for PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, SQLite, Oracle, Snowflake, BigQuery and MariaDB.
- Fix a failing statement from the SQL and its error message.
- Optimize a slow query and explain the bottleneck.
- Explain an unfamiliar query step by step.
- Convert SQL between dialects.
- List the databases saved in your AI2SQL account and read their table and column names, so queries use real names.
- Run a single read-only SELECT or WITH query against a connected PostgreSQL, MySQL or SQL Server database and return up to 1,000 rows. Writes and DDL are rejected.

How it works: you sign in with your AI2SQL account over OAuth, and every tool follows your AI2SQL plan exactly as the web app does. A free account can generate SQL; fix, optimize, explain, convert and running queries are part of the paid plans, each of which starts with a 7-day free trial. Databases are connected inside AI2SQL, so the connector never receives database credentials. All eight tools are read-only.
