# Reported issues for Argent

Pod holds 9 of 9 problems reported by people outside the maintainer team. Issues filed by the project's own owners, members and collaborators are excluded entirely — a maintainer's release checklist is not a warning to a prospective user.

Back to [Argent](/mcp/argent).

## Most discussed

### gesture-rotate, flow-read-prerequisite, flow-execute use top-level oneOf/anyOf in inputSchema, which the Anthropic Messages API rejects

### Environment
- Client: [opencode](https://github.com/anomalyco/opencode) v1.15.13, argent connected as a local MCP server (`argent mcp` over stdio)
- argent: `@swmansion/argent@0.20.0` (also reproduced on `0.20.1-next.3`)
- Node: v24.19.0
- OS: macOS (Darwin 25.5.0, arm64)

### Summary
3 of the 73 tools argent's MCP server exposes have `oneOf`/`anyOf` at the top level of `inputSchema` (used to express "either param A or param B" conditional requirements). We hit this in opencode, where the An

### stop-all-simulator-servers: scope session-end cleanup to the calling session

## Problem

`stop-all-simulator-servers` takes no parameters and stops every simulator-server, native-devtools, and Chromium CDP transport on the machine. The rules file (`rules/argent.md`) and the MCP server instructions both tell every session to call it at session end.

On a machine running several concurrent agent sessions against the one shared tool-server, one session ending severs the transports of all the others mid-work. We observed this repeatedly with 5+ concurrent Claude Code session

### screenshot: "no image to export" with >1 booted simulator (regression in 0.12.x; works in 0.11.0)

## Summary

`screenshot` fails with `no image to export` when **more than one simulator is booted**, even when a specific `--udid` is passed. This is a regression: it works in `0.11.0` and breaks in `0.12.1`.

## Environment

- argent `0.12.1` (broken) vs `0.11.0` (works)
- macOS 26.x, Apple Silicon
- Xcode iOS Simulators (iOS 26.x)

## Repro

1. Boot **two** iOS simulators:
   ```
   xcrun simctl boot <UDID_A>
   xcrun simctl boot <UDID_B>
   ```
2. Start the tool-server and capture a screensho

### tool-server.cjs is orphaned (reparented to launchd) when the argent mcp process that spawned it exits

**Environment:** `@swmansion/argent` 0.11.0, Node v24.12.0 (nvm), macOS 26.5, Apple Silicon

## Bug

When the `argent mcp` process that **first spawns** `tool-server.cjs` exits (e.g. its MCP client is a short-lived headless run that finishes), the tool-server does not exit. It re-parents to launchd (ppid 1) and runs indefinitely. There appears to be no parent-death detection (stdin EOF / ppid watchdog) and no idle timeout.

## Repro (verified)

1. Ensure no `tool-server.cjs start` process is run

### argent init writes absolute /Users/<username>/… paths into committed MCP configs

After running argent init in a project, every generated MCP config has a literal home path baked into the ARGENT_MCP_LOG env var, e.g.:

```
"env": {
  "ARGENT_MCP_LOG": "/Users/<username>/.argent/mcp-calls.log"
}
```

This shows up in all six IDE-specific files that argent init writes:

.mcp.json (Claude Code)
.cursor/mcp.json
.vscode/mcp.json
.zed/settings.json
.gemini/settings.json
.codex/config.toml

These files are meant to be committed and shared with the team, so every collaborator who pu

### [0.7.1] cpu at 100%, endless amount of `simctl` launched

Hi guys,

using `0.7.1`, I left my mac alone for a while and when i came back i saw about ~500 simctl instances eating up the cpu.

I asked codex what is spawning it and responded:

```
The process names point pretty strongly at the culprit already:
  argent mcp is running, and the simctl spawn ...
  DYLD_INSERT_LIBRARIES ... @swmansion/argent/... commands are
  Argent’s iOS simulator instrumentation. I’m doing one parent-
  process check now to make that airtight
```

No matter if I force qui

### `argent init` puts mcp config for Claude in a nonexistant "server" key

Basically what the title says. it puts this in the `.mcp.json` file:
```
 "servers": {
    "argent": {
      "type": "stdio",
      "command": "argent",
      "args": [
        "mcp"
      ],
...
```
but the key you need is "mcpServers.json" as far as I know. I [looked through the Claude Code docs](https://code.claude.com/docs/en/mcp) and didn't see any mention of a "servers" key.

### MCP Server Errors on Start

Likely not an issue, just hoping for some help. I had argent installed (globally) and working at one point, but when I went to use it today the MCP server errors every time I try to start with:

### iOS ax-service segfaults on every attach on Intel (x86_64) Macs — and the "MUST call boot-device with force=true" hint then drives coding agents into an infinite simulator reboot loop

## Environment

- argent 0.20.0, global install (`npm i -g @swmansion/argent`)
- macOS 26.5.2 (25F84) on Intel — Core i9-9980HK, x86_64
- Xcode 26.5 (17F42), iOS 26.5 simulator runtime (23F77)
- Node v24.13.1
- Target: iPhone 17 Pro simulator (default device set)
- Telemetry is disabled on this machine, so none of this will have reached you that way

## Summary

Two linked problems, the second turning the first into a severe failure mode for agent-driven use:

1. **`bin/darwin/ax-service` crashe
