# EAN-Search MCP Server

The EAN-Search.org MCP server gives AI assistants direct access to a huge barcode databases (currently 1.2 billion distinct barcodes), covering products from around the world in many languages. Assistants can resolve any EAN, GTIN, UPC or ISBN code to a product name, category and issuing country, or search by keywords to find matching products and their barcodes. This is useful for identifying items from a scanned or typed code, enriching product catalogs and inventories, verifying barcodes in e-commerce listings, and researching products or books without leaving the conversation.

## Status

### Why the tool list is not verified

EAN-Search refuses an anonymous `tools/list`, which is the correct thing for a server holding real user data to do. Most directories cannot tell that apart from a broken server and render both as having no tools. It is not broken — it is gated, and it answered us to say so.
