Reported issues for gws-connector
Pod holds 7 of 7 problems reported by people outside the maintainer team. Issues filed by the project's own owners, members and collaborators are excluded entirely — a maintainer's release checklist is not a warning to a prospective user.
Back to gws-connector.
Most discussed
Deferred surface gaps: Gmail forward/attachments, Slides (gated on demand)
Purpose
Tracking issue for surface gaps that are deliberately deferred — real vs. broad single-account servers, but not aligned with gws-connector's multi-account/local focus and not yet requested. Do not implement pre-emptively; ship only if users ask (👍 / comments here signal demand).
Deferred items
Gmail: forward + attachment handling
gws.mail.forward— today a forward can be approximated viacreate_draftwiththreadId; a first-class forward (carrying the original

Sheets: add append + clear
Gap
gws.sheets.* has read_range, write_range, create, list_tabs but lacks append (add rows without computing the next empty range) and clear (empty a range). Append in particular is a common, awkward-to-emulate operation. No new scope — existing spreadsheets scope covers both.
Proposed tools
gws.sheets.append—spreadsheet_id(required),range(required, the table/range to append after),values(2D array, required),value_input_option(RAW|`USER_E

Add Contacts/People API (search + directory)
Gap
No Contacts / People API support. This pairs naturally with the multi-account email story: resolve a name → address, disambiguate recipients per account, and (for Workspace accounts) search the org directory. Comparable servers expose 7 Contacts tools.
Proposed tools (read-only to start)
gws.contacts.search—query(required),maxResults,account. WrapsPeople.SearchContacts(returns name, emails, phones). Read-only.gws.contacts.directory_search—query

Add Google Tasks support (list/create/complete)
Gap
No Google Tasks support. Frequently requested, small API, and pairs well with the assistant workflow ("add a task", "what's on my list"). Comparable servers expose it (DataToRag/gws-mcp has 6 Tasks tools).
Proposed tools (start minimal)
gws.tasks.list_tasklists—account. Read-only.gws.tasks.list—tasklist(default@default),showCompleted(bool),account. Read-only.gws.tasks.create—title(required),notes,due(RFC3339),tasklist, `a

Calendar: add update_event + delete_event (reschedule/cancel)
Gap
gws.cal.* can list/get/create events but cannot update or delete them — you can't reschedule or cancel a meeting today. This is a genuine functional hole vs comparable Google Workspace MCP servers (e.g. DataToRag/gws-mcp has update/delete/free-busy). No new OAuth scope needed — the existing calendar scope already grants write.
Proposed tools
gws.cal.update_event— params:eventId(required),calendarId(defaultprimary), plus optionalsummary,start, `end

MCP server disconnects during interactive OAuth flows (add-account/reauth)
Summary
The gws.accounts.add and gws.accounts.reauth tools block the MCP stdio transport for up to 5 minutes while waiting for the OAuth browser callback (see internal/auth/oauth.go:143). This can cause the MCP client (e.g. Claude Code) to time out the tool call, mark the server unresponsive, and disconnect it — after which no gws.* tools are available for the rest of the session.
Repro
- Run
/gws:reauthand complete the browser flow successfully. - Run
/gws:reautha secon

Add native Google Sheets & Docs API support (read/write)
Summary
Currently, Sheets and Docs content can be read via the Drive export API (gws_drive_read_file), which exports Docs as plain text and Sheets as CSV. However, there is no support for native Sheets or Docs API operations — specifically structured read/write capabilities.
Motivation
The Google Workspace CLI offers native Sheets and Docs commands as part of its 100+ tool surface. Adding native API support would close the biggest feat
