# Prefix WhoIs MCP Server
Prefix WhoIs answers from the live global BGP routing table and the Internet registries. Ask who announces an address right now, the most specific prefix and AS path, the organization and network on record, country and approximate location, and the registry contacts. The same free service has answered whois.pwhois.org since 2005; this connector puts it inside your assistant.
Ten tools: pwhois_lookup_ip (one address, full record), pwhois_lookup_ips (up to 5,000 addresses in one call, clustered by origin AS and country), pwhois_asn_info, pwhois_asn_prefixes, pwhois_asn_transit, pwhois_prefix_routes, pwhois_org_search, pwhois_registry_record, and two free tools, pwhois_routing_status and pwhois_my_quota. Two prompts (enrich_log, profile_as) and three reference documents ship with the connection. Every result is read-only, carries the routing snapshot time and the remaining daily allowance, and conforms to a declared output schema. IPv4 and IPv6 are supported everywhere; hostnames are resolved for you.
Free, private, no account needed. Connect once, press Connect on the page that opens, and start asking. Queries share the daily allowance of the network address you connect from, 5,000 per day by default; higher limits are granted free for most uses, including education, research, security teams and government. What you ask about is not kept. Errors are structured, so an assistant stops on an exhausted allowance instead of retrying.
Typical uses: enrich a firewall or authentication log by network and organization, profile an autonomous system and its transit, find the abuse contact for an address block, or check what a network announces before writing a report.
