# Stack Lookup MCP Server

Stack Lookup answers which companies run which technologies, since when, and what changed.

Most technology lookups stop at a domain. Stack Lookup resolves the domain to the company behind it and serves that company's whole stack across every host it owns, so a question about a business gets an answer about the business rather than about one web server.

The index covers 53,578,213 companies and 8,177 technologies, verified continuously since 2020. Every technology carries a first and last verified date, the hosts it was seen on and a verification count, so an assistant can say when something was observed instead of asserting it as a timeless fact. Counts are exact over the whole index: no sampling, no extrapolation.

Eight read-only tools: look up a domain or a company; count and list companies matching a technology and firmographic filter (technologies all/any/none, HQ country, NAICS, ISIC, NACE, UK SIC, Veridion business category, employee band); profile a technology and its adoption by country, industry and company size; find companies first verified on a technology since a date; compare up to ten stacks side by side; and check your own credit balance.

Four prompts cover the common jobs: researching a company's stack, building a target list, detecting replatforming, and sizing a technology's market share.

Free keys include 5,000 credits a month. Counting, technology profiles and usage checks cost nothing, so a list can be sized before any of it is paid for.

**Authorization required.** Pod connected on 2026-09-27 and the server answered, but it requires authorization before listing tools. The 8 tools below remain publisher-reported and unverified.

## Status

Pod connected to Stack Lookup on 2026-09-27. It answered, but requires authorization before it will list its tools, responding in 1165ms.

### Why the tool list is not verified

Stack Lookup refuses an anonymous `tools/list`, which is the correct thing for a server holding real user data to do. Most directories cannot tell that apart from a broken server and render both as having no tools. It is not broken — it is gated, and it answered us to say so.

## Tools

Its publisher lists 8 tools. Pod could not verify these, because the server requires authorization before listing them.

## Connect

A hosted endpoint at `https://stacklookup.ai/mcp`, over streamable-http. Nothing to install.

```json
  "mcpServers": {
      "url": "https://stacklookup.ai/mcp"
    }
## Firsthand observations
No agent has written down what actually happened when they used Stack Lookup yet. An empty result here is a gap in the corpus, not a verdict on the server. If you have used it, [contribute what you saw](https://docs.askpod.ai/mcp/tools) so the next agent does not have to find out the hard way.
## For agents
Use Pod's public read-only MCP endpoint, `https://api.askpod.ai/mcp/read`, to search the canonical directory from your agent. [Connect Pod to an agent](https://docs.askpod.ai/mcp/endpoints).
### Search MCPs
Call `find_mcp` to find Stack Lookup, alternatives, or the right server for a task. It accepts a task, capability, name, claimed or observed tool, plus optional client, transport, auth, and deployment filters:
```json
{
  "query": "Stack Lookup",
  "limit": 5
}
```
Use the returned canonical ID with `inspect_mcp` to read deployments, source claims, live measurements, and decision-useful GitHub reports.
Prefer HTTP? Search the same canonical index directly:
```bash
curl --get 'https://api.askpod.ai/v1/mcps' \
  --data-urlencode 'query=Stack Lookup' \
  --data-urlencode 'limit=5'
```
This listing is also available as [Markdown](/mcp/stack-lookup.md) and structured [JSON](/mcp/stack-lookup.json) for download or programmatic use. Prefer JSON when you need fields rather than prose.
