Split out from the docs audit in #61, where an example querying these fields silently returned nothing.
The trigger
docs/examples.md had this, and it looked entirely reasonable:

It matched zero rows and raised nothing, because these are str | None columns holding "Yes". The docs are now fixed to use .is_not(None), but the underlying question is whether the model has the right type…

square_bounds excludes in-radius points when the radius crosses a pole or the antimeridian
Found while bringing tests/test_utils.py to 100% for #76. The two old wrap-around tests had their assertions inside if blocks that never fired, so they asserted nothing; rewriting them as real assertions exposed this.

RepeaterSpec drops emergency-service data entirely
Split out from #62, which raised this as follow-up work once the storage type was settled. #67 settled it.
Current state
After #67, Repeater models emergency services properly: ares/races/skywarn/canwarn are tri-state booleans, and Repeater.emergency_services returns a frozenset[Emergency].
RepeaterSpec exposes none of it. spec.py:167-193 has no emergency field, repeater_to_specs never reads one, and the published JSON Schema…

RepeaterBook never disposes its engine, leaking SQLite connections
Split out from #67, which made this easier to notice but did not cause it.
The problem
RepeaterBook.engine is a @cached_property, so the SQLAlchemy Engine — and its connection pool — lives as long as the object. Nothing ever calls engine.dispose(), and the class exposes no close() or context-manager protocol, so a caller has no supported way to release the handle either.
database.py has no dispose, close, __enter__ or __exit__ anywhere in it.

### search_repeaters returns naive last_update, failing MCP date-time schema validation
## Summary
`RepeaterSpec.last_update` is typed as `datetime` and published in the JSON Schema with `format: "date-time"`, but `repeater_to_specs` constructs it as a **naive** datetime. Pydantic serializes a naive datetime without a timezone offset (`2026-08-27T00:00:00`), which is **not valid RFC 3339** `date-time`. Strict MCP clients validate structured tool output against the declared schema and reject every result row.
